Members of Rockwell A.M.E. Zion Church, John R. Hairston and Kathy R. Hairston were honored at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University during the official ribbon-cutting for the newly named John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences, located in Hines Hall.

Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. and College Dean Elimelda Moige Ongeri praised the Hairstons for their multi-million-dollar commitment, which supports scholarships, faculty development, research, and new academic programs at the nation’s No. 1 public HBCU.

Representing the Charlotte community, Rev Jordan B. Boyd commended the couple for their generosity to both A&T and their home community. The Hairstons shared that their giving is inspired by the opportunities they were given and their desire to help future generations succeed.

The Hairston College is now the largest college at N.C. A&T, offering programs in nursing, psychology, social work, kinesiology, health services management, and more, with additional graduate and doctoral programs in development.
